Award-winning composer and artist Lisa Nordström began releasing music in the early 2000s with the internationally acclaimed electronic duo Midaircondo. Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, she has an extensive background in classical music, electronic instruments, sound art, and improvisation. Nordström’s work has earned her significant recognition, including the Guldbaggen Award for “Best Original Score” and a nomination for the Camille Award in 2022 for her critically acclaimed work on the documentary Children of the Enemy. She was also selected as “Composer of the Year” by SKAP – The Swedish Society of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
In addition to her film and collaborative work, Nordström has released several solo albums, many of which are conceptual in nature. Her recent releases include Thunder (2023) and the series from 2022 – Void, Snow, Moon, and Midnight – an epic nine-hour musical journey designed to accompany the listener through the course of a full day. Other solo albums include Soundtrack (2019) and 7 States of Passion (2008).
Her latest film score is for the movie Safe House (Norwegian: Før mørket), which premiered as the opening film of the Göteborg Film Festival 2025 and won the Dragon Award for Best Nordic Film. The film, directed by Eirik Svensson, is a powerful true story about a Norwegian aid worker’s impossible choice during the civil war in the Central African Republic. With twelve full-length albums and numerous collaborations, Nordström has toured extensively around the world. Her work has been presented at festivals such as Sónar, Sonar Sound Tokyo, and Mutek Festival, and she has toured with artists like José González and Matmos.
